"Planning outfits for vacation can be quite the challenge with unpredictable weather. To help, we've determined the most classic travel essentials you should have on hand and provided inspiration for what to wear in 60-, 70-, and 80+-degree weather. So whether the temperature drops drastically at night or varies depending on the wind chill, you'll have everything you need to pack accordingly.
We tapped brands that sell resort and swimwear to report on current bestsellers, including Solid & Striped, Mikoh, PatBO, Lemlem, Duvin, EM on Holiday, Show Me Your Mumu, Kadimah, and Net-a-Porter. All nine retailers confirmed to POPSUGAR that vacation shopping picks up after the holidays when people book getaways and again in April, just before summer.
From cutouts and co-ord cabana sets to bucket hats and colorful statement jewelry, the looks ahead are rising in popularity, along with the consumer's willingness to experiment and expand their wardrobe. "I think people are looking forward to mixing classic silhouettes in fun and bright colors," says Oleema Miller, codesigner of sister-founded label Mikoh. "After a wild few years, life shouldn't be taken so seriously when on holiday. Wear pops of yellow, punchy purples, and sparkly lurex to add some color to your travel destinations, whether they be far or near."."
What to Wear in 60-Degree Weather: Peasant Dress
"Year-round vacation looks should always include a peasant dress, which is breezy and a lightweight, packable item but can also be layered for chillier travel destinations. Opt for a long-sleeved version that can be styled with a cinched waist, like the Lemlem Peasant Dress ($425) in its top-performing medallion print, and coordinate with sandals or sneakers for a more adventurous day."
What to Wear in 80-Degree Weather: Bib Dress
"Like a tunic, the bib dress is free-flowing and short, made for comfort and ease in the heat. Lemlem reports its Palm Leaf Bib Dress ($325) as a customer favorite because it's ultraflattering, designed to show off your shoulders and legs, and functional. Team it with a pair of neutral lace-up sandals and a woven bag."
