African Art in NYC

The best of African art was on show across New York this past week at art festivals including Frieze New York and 1:54. We joined the party at Amref Health Africa’s annual "Artball" at Milk Studios.

The event showcased works from over 40 African artists. Featured artists included Laolu Senbanjo, a Nigerian artist whose expressive body art was featured in Beyonce’s, Lemonade, Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu whose work explores women’s identities and roles, and Malick Sidibe, known for his candid images of daily life in Mali in the decades following that country’s independence.

The artists united, donating works of art for auction with proceeds going to support Amref’s health programs across sub-Saharan Africa.
